Corrosion Under Insulation - Joint Industry Project

|
Industrial pipes

Dear colleagues,

Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) is a long-standing problem many industries face, threatening the integrity of insulated piping and equipment. It has been estimated that 40-60% of piping maintenance or 10% of the total maintenance budget can be attributed to CUI. It is recognized that the main challenges imposed by the CUI phenomenon are the difficulty in inspection and early detection. It is also acknowledged that the cost of corrosion can be further reduced by implementing the current knowledge and existing prevention strategies.

Thus, Curtin Corrosion Centre is seeking industry partners to launch a Joint Industry Project (JIP) on CUI that will take advantage of our state-of-the-art world-class facilities and globally recognized expertise in CUI research. The CUI-JIP goal is to produce a measurable and lasting reduction in the costs and risks associated with CUI.

Curtin Corrosion Centre’s CUI-JIP will be a platform to foster global collaboration between industry and academia to reach a common goal. The CUI-JIP will address the problem holistically by tackling the three important aspects of CUI management, namely, coating degradation and life predictionCUI monitoring, and CUI prediction.

You can find more information about each research theme by downloading the CUI-JIP booklet below.
