Metals are essential materials used in all aspects of our daily life, such as communication devices to transportation goods, energy, and food. Like other materials, metals can lose their properties due to the interaction with the environment by a process called corrosion. For most metals, corrosion is inevitable and is a natural process.

The extent of corrosion damages can range from aesthetic and integrity of infrastructure, contamination of drinking water, shortage of gas supply, to transportation safety. As such, corrosion affects us in more ways than we realise.

In this short video, we show the broader impact that corrosion has on many industries and the roles of corrosion specialists in controlling corrosion.
